Medical Insurance: Every descendant / guest coming from overseas should check with his/her medical insurance provider to see if they have reciprocity with the Philippines. Some nations have reciprocity. If you have nationalized medicine, find out how you will be reimbursed for any medical emergencies. If you have private health care, ask your provider if they cover you overseas and how the expenses will be paid.
Las Familias Unidas '14: The Secretariat generally provides a basic medical assistance from your volunteer medical practitioner relatives. They will help you immediately with basic medical treatment during Las Familias Unidas '14.
Supplementary Insurance: Individuals may purchase travelers medical insurance. Read carefully the terms of what it covers and how the bills are paid.
Prescription Medication: If you are bringing prescription medication, you should bring the meds in the original bottle. Sometimes this is not possible, but in general try. If you are taking critical medication, you might consider bringing another prescription from your doctor in English just in case you lose your meds. Everyone suffers when a someone loses his/her meds.
